24: a day with my daughter• 19 Feb, 2009 • Catégorie: Chloe, contemporary traveler •
My daughter Lucie, 13 years, informed me last week that she had became a woman, a real woman, and she wanted to do everything just like me, at least just for a whole day. Having a moment of surprise after seeing my little girl announcing the news to me, I took a day off on Wednesday to have a one-on-one girl’s day out with her. A girly, gourmand and well-planned program so that it would always be on our mind!
9.00 a.m.: After awaking from a small well deserved sleep, Lucie leaped into my bed. In an hour, we would have an appointment with the trendiest hairdresser in Paris to refresh ourselves and cut our hair before starting a full long well-filled Wednesday!
10.00 a.m.: Arrived at Massato’s saloon at rue de Tournon with its Zen environment and its garden in the courtyard, it is absolutely a haven of peace in the middle of Paris. After 2 full hours, pampered by the prodigal small hands, the result is perfect: a stray wavy style for Lucie, short but feminine cut for me. We leave with a big smile on our face, happy with our new hairstyle and a perfect start of the day!

12.00 p.m.: We settled down for a coffee in a store, Bon Marché. Since we had an appointment at 1 p.m. with our private stylist, this place is completely ideal. Fast service like Fast Food but with a great restaurant menu: It’s mouth-watering! Lucie couldn’t resist the lasagna with raw tuna, smoked white fish, vegetables and two sesames (15€). Just as we were about to taste one of the numerous desserts proposed on the menu, we had already needed to leave for our appointment with our stylist of the day.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:30am to 06:00pm.
–Thursday and Saturdays from 10:30am to 07:00pm.
1 p.m.: She waited us in the private room of Bon Marché (150€ for hours with a personal shopper). Accompanied with a cup of tea, Lucie and I filled out a questionnaire so that the designer could learn our taste and our favorite’s style. After waiting for some moments, she revealed to us an incredible personalized selection, where we took some time to select the most suitable selection for us. Cashmere and soft cotton for me, a hippy style for a chic mother. Pink rock’n'roll jacket, pink pinafore and multicolored low heel shoes for Lucie, a young trendy girl style.

3:30 p.m.: We registered ourselves into an amusing and gourmand cooking class with Guy Martin (40€/persons for 1:30). Raspberries cake, caramel pig, and Smoothie Pina Colada style, those are some of the scrumptious meals that we were delighted to prepare. Simple, sweet and colored, we would obviously impress Jules as we returned home for dinner. The class for family takes place every Wednesday at the same time so next time, we would bring Jules with us so that he could show us what he is capable of doing!

5.00 p.m.: After all the fun with icing sugar, flour and fresh fruits, the cooking class gave us some appetite. Just few minutes by foot, we entered into Ladurée at rue Royale, just a stone’s throw from the Concorde obelisk. Frescos on the ceiling, white tablecloths and cherubs, we observed a classic decoration in this tearoom which opened in 1867, and still keeps its old-time atmosphere. We crunched greedily some cute macaroons, (Chocolate and licorice for Lucie, orange tree flower for me (3,80 € parts)) before jumping into a taxi for more cocooning appointment for the day…

6.00 p.m.: We were a little bit late, the traffic in the Montorgueil district was a disaster but the young woman who welcomed us at O’ Kari Hammam kept her smile nevertheless. We opted the two hours formula (150€ per person) which includes a steaming vapor bath with eucalyptus, an exfoliation with a black soap or a modeling session with essential oils. Then, a moment of relaxation between girls, we gossiped about boys, clothes and our daily life in the whirlpool Jacuzzi tub. My day became more illuminated when I heard the laughter of my daughter, under the heat of the hair-dryer right after our Spa session. Her laughter was the most valuable reward for me, knowing that she had a great time with her mom …

8.00 p.m.: We returned home tired but happy after this full day feminine marathon. Lucie fell asleep immediately after dinner, with dreams and full projects in her mind. As I switched off the light of her room, I was just hoping that my lovely little princess would not grow up so quickly.
