Luang Prabang, the cultural capital of Laos
The “Kingdom of a million elephants”, was then named as the time of Laos when Luang Prabang was the royal capital. Located in the center north of the country, along the banks of the Mekong, the whole town is listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. While many relics remind visitors this rich history, processions of monks often travel the 32 temples scattered around Luang Prabang. To add to this spiritual tranquility, the famous chain of luxury Amanresorts has opened the Amantaka.

An old colonial house
Installed in the buildings of a former hospital in a Frenchy colonial atmosphere, the Amantaka is the luxury address of the destination. Its 24 suites are arranged around a central courtyard where is also located the swimming pool. With a surface area ranging between 70 and 120 m², 14 of these suites have a private swimming pool. They are all of a sobriety and a typical elegance of Amanresorts. High ceilings, antique wood, white walls, isolated terraces, shaded verandas… The quietness and refinement are ubiquitous.

Restaurants and Spa
Around the swimming pool, the terrace lounge permit you to appreciate some local flavors in the restaurant, the chef suggests a menu of French-Laotian inspiration, highlighting the colonial roots of the place. To improve his knowledge of culinary speciality, cooking classes are offered.

The most sports enthusiasts can venture on elephant’s back or practice the Kayaking on the river Khan.
