“Charlotte de l’Isle is a pastry tearoom as it does not exist anymore in Paris. You want to eat the scenery as well as pastries. People come here to slip incognito in a scene out of time, out of fashion. It is a small happiness visual mess that mixes puppets, statuettes, naive drawings, some postcards from a personal collection and various objects associated with humour. The amazing chocolates, the wonderful cakes with a good dose of poetry, unusual shows and even a piano which hosts the fingers of passing-by friends… That’s the Charlotte de l’Isle!”
The Charlotte de L’Isle is a true institution on the Ile Saint Louis, once you taste it you will be bewitched. “I’ve been there for 33 years” says the owner and she adds “And it surprises me myself!”
