Avantgarde design in Berlin
• 5 Dec, 2007 • Catégorie: Berlin •Propeller Island is a kind of UFO in the hospitality world. It’s an art gallery and an experiment for the eyes and the ears, it’s an architectural non sense, it’s a confortable avantgarde home for modern nomads. Have a look on the crazy rooms.
Room number 1: A room with a slanted floor which makes grandma’s bed seem to fly. The wardrobe comes out of the wall, but table and chair have got to stay straight! In the rustic bathroom of natural stone you will find eggplant-coloured slate.
Room number 2: Your place of rest is literally knotted to four large ceiling rafters with thick shipping rope. The bed suspended one and a half metres from above can only be reached with a vertical ladder. Climb, climb! Unfortuntately, security regulations bar this room from being rented out to overweight guests!
Room number 3: Pure orange tones and minimalistic forms provide for true relaxation and bestow your sun-hungry countenance with a healthy complexion. This room composes an accomodation unit together with The Symbol Room, both sharing a bathroom and a cozy, live-in kitchen - ideal for four persons, though it can also be rented individually.
And so on …

Propeller Island has it’s own gallery. On street level and connected directly to the hotel here you can see and buy furnitures, art and others created by Lars Stroschen.
You’ll have breakfast in between giant tropical plants, with feeding soundtrack included. You sit on grandma’s chairs, with tables made from 100 years old wood and stems. Very nice atmosphere. After breakfast (till 11:00) you can rent the room for meetings as well, up to 35 persons. Please ask the reception.
