Baudon de Mauny: a family home in Montpellier
• 10 Nov, 2009 • Catégorie: Languedoc-Roussillon, One hotel a day, Romantic, With my family •Hidden in a narrow street of old Montpellier, surrounded by a literary tea, a contemporary art gallery and a store of old toys, the 18th century house Baudon de Mauny, is preserved with talent from prying eyes, to better afford its guests passing through the ancient city. With its 5 bedrooms, this place is sophisticated and exclusive.

The decor reminds the encounter of 18th century with aesthetics and comfort from the 21st century. The cornice moldings and other vintage details mix with the huge printed cushions by Marimekko, the Finnish design brand known for its simple motifs with powerful colors. Some rooms are adorned with designer chairs such as the Diamond Chair by the Italian Harry Bertoia or the chair Utrecht, from the Netherlands Gerrit Rietveld, the unmistakable red fabric with all its white stitching.

Luxurious, the old mansion has all the comforts services worthy of the greatest hotels: room service for breakfast, wifi, iPod dock. And for those who travel with their tribe, opt for the apartment, a pied-à-terre in Montpellier of almost 100sq meters, with two design bedrooms each adorned with a small lounge and bathroom, plus the large kitchen. In the same family for 7 generations now, there is no doubt that this guest house continues on its beautiful momentum. A future all mapped out.

Rates: from 160€ Poppy rooms, Butterflies and Flamingos. 220€ plasterwork and Orchids rooms. The apartment from 260€ for 2 to 6 people (240€ if more than 3 nights).
