Blow up Hall 5050: the first interactive hotel in Europe
• 17 Dec, 2009 • Catégorie: One hotel a day, Poland, Unusual hotels •Behind the science fiction name lies one of the most conceptual hotels of the moment. Located in Poland, a city still little frequented by travelers – the city of Poznan is halfway between Berlin and Warsaw – this ultra avant-garde boutique hotel could become the point of falling for NUM seeking new experiences. With no receipt, no room numbers, here are the keys to a confusing hotel.

The Blow up Hall 5050 was designed by Grazyna Kulczyk and Rafael Lozano Hemmer, Mexican-Canadian artist specialist of electronic art. First experiment, the client receives as a key an iPhone to get in his room. He must then undergo a short personality test to find out what room he is assigned to. One method of awarding totally random, but who says it is based on your destiny! Same on the website of the hotel: the designation of the room is done by choosing between three figures, three colors or three photographic details (choices constantly change during the updating of the page).

The public areas are equipped with electronic arty facilities. Rafaelo Lozano Hemmer did a unique video work that appeals to guests, who are filmed during their wanderings in the common areas of the hotel (corridors, bar, restaurant). These images are then released simultaneously on two small format screens, creating a unique and experimental effect. Side design, Blow Up Hall 5050 is a rather eccentric that dares all mixtures: geometrical and red brick, white and clean futuristic purple neon, fusion cuisine … Welcome to the future.

Rates: from 200€ a night.
