The Jules & Jim Hotel has finally opened!

After the «Apéros cachés» (Hidden Cocktails) that made the site famous, the trendy hotel Jules & Jim can finally welcome you! Five years of study and 19 months of construction have been needed to create the 23 bedrooms of the hotel. Divided into three buildings surrounded by two cobblestone courtyards and a bar (also open to the public), the rooms have been conceived by Natacha Froger of Atome Associés. As for the laying out of the bar and of the courtyard, the Michael Malapert’s Agency and Régis Conseil took care of them. At Hoosta Magazine, we fell for the Hi-MACS© bedrooms and their so peculiar concept. As a cocoon, the bed owns a backlighted shell made in stone and resin. And the closet, the toilets, the shower and the basin occupy four corners of the room! Some rooms have a view on Parisian roofs, and even on the Sacré Coeur for those on the last floor.

The big extra: The bar of the hotel will organise shows of DJs and fleeting events all year long. You can also access the fitness club the Klay, located 5 minutes away from the hotel, for €45 a day.

Rates: From €180 the night, until €550 for the Duplex (depending on the season).

The Ritz Paris closes for renovations

The world of Parisian luxury hotels is on alert. The 5-star hotel on the Place Vendôme, the Ritz Paris, is going to close its doors starting summer 2012, for a long period of 27 months of work. The prestigious institution which had not received the distinction “Palace” last summer, awarded for the first time in France, had not been renovated since 1979. According to its manager, Franck J. Klein, the renovation (the cost has not been revealed) will perpetuate the tradition established by the founder, César Ritz in 1889. The hotel sphere considers this decision as an answer to the climate of complete metamorphosis that the hotel landscape undergoes currently, with the arrival of major luxury hotels like the Shangri-La or the Mandarin Oriental.

Grand Hotel Cabourg: In Search of Lost Time

Summer is over, now comes the time for autumnal romantic weekends. The time to walk along the beach, hands in hands. On the Normandy coast, two hours from Paris, we rediscover a local hotel trade jewel: the Grand Hotel Cabourg. Before summer, the studio Hertrich & Adnet has entirely renovated the hotel mid-Italian Renaissance mid-Belle Epoque, displays now a contemporary atmosphere. By combining modernity with vintage, the establishment has retained its romantic spirit, when Marcel Proust was staying at the hotel, writing chapters of his work “In Search of Lost Time”.

Today, silk and velvet are blended with cotton, wood and leather are combined with glass and stainless steel. And the classic beige and gold tones are matched with blue, plum, chocolate and purple. Each of the four floors has been renamed in honor of a local personality: Marcel Proust, Sandrine Bonnaire, Bruno Coquatrix (former mayor), and Colonel Jean-Baptiste Piron (who had liberated the city in 1944). A very romantic hotel perfect for couples.
