The Gate House: romantic stay in Corrèze

On the wooded domain of Château d’Arnac, near a lake hides The Gate House, a charming hotel of two suites only. Despite the noise of water slowly running down and the little birds chirping, we could even believe that Bluebeard imprisoned his wife behind these thick and mysterious walls. Don’t worry though, the Gate House definitely is a chic and zen retreat for anxious travelers!

On three stories, the hotel offers the atmosphere of any country house, or even of an English cottage: living room with a fire place, ideal to read and have a cup of tea, fitted kitchen and private garden to tan in the summer. We helplessly fall for the charm of the ancient furniture, the exposed stone walls and majestic floors. We would almost like to buy The Gate House and make it our second, and why not main home…

The hotel is saving you two beautiful and luminous suites overlooking the lake facing the residence. On the menu, luxury and more luxury with a black marble bathroom, Manuel Canovas wallpapers, fabrics from Colefax and Fowler and a canopy bed in the suite nestled under an arched wooden ceiling on the last floor. Magical!

There’s no doubt that such a romantic décor will make you never want to leave when holidays come to an end!

A little extra: The price of your stay includes breakfast, a bottle of champagne when you arrive, fresh fruit, flowers and lighting the fire in the winter!

Great honours are great burdens

Hoosta magazine never ceases to show you unusual hotels and unique experiences to live. After the Beckham Creek Cave Lodge and the Dog Bark Park, discover the half buried hotel … And very improbable thing : it is situated in France! The residence Les Collines de Sainte Fereole, in the Correze region, close to Brive-La-Gaillarde, is nestled in the heart of a hill. There are 25 shelters which can welcome until 8 persons, half-underground, with the only ambition to have a minimal ecological imprint.

Successful bet. Made in rough concrete, the shelters have no polluting additive ( glue or varnish ). With their plant roofs, the shelters are perfectly insulated against cold and sound, they provide a good air quality and thus CO2 reductions. Finally, the products for the breakfast all come from the organic agriculture and/or the fair trade.

A little extra : The shelters are conceived in order not to create vis-à-vis. You will be able to enjoy your private mini terrace !

Hotel in the Corrèze region: design under the city walls

Some regions of France seem totally cut off from the outside world. However, some of them have many surprises in store, like Corrèze, in which a chic contemporary hotel has taken up residence. Le Turenne hotel is set up in a former 12th century abbey, the fireplace and spiral staircase of which were preserved. Special feature: it’s contemporary spirit.

This character hotel built in the former city walls combines historical remains and interior design. For example, the hotel’s garden, which also serves as breakfast room on sunny days, is adorned with strange shaped lamps, funny fluorescent pink cones; or with orange, pistachio green and pink retro chairs. An amazing meeting between past and present, striking as you enter the restaurant room with its brick walls and its archway, as if you were going back in time.

The renowned restaurant serves a tasty cooking, masterfully orchestrated by Chef Laurent Carlier. Try the colled down lobster, iced bisque, candied peaches, cucumber and pink peppercorns sorbet; or the Araguani chocolate fondant cake, tender ginger-walnut heart and crème fraîche ice. An unexpected pied-à-terrein the Corrèze regions, who houses many marvels to experience: Rocamadour, the Gorges of La Cère, or the Gouffre at Padirac. The choice is all yours.

Small + point: The hotel’s bedrooms are definitely contemporary, as feminine as masculine. Each one of them has its own atmosphere: feminine in the romantic and natural pink and gray room, urban in the black and blue room.
