• Block at Tahoe: created by a snowboarder for a snowboarder

When Mark Frank Montoya, American professional snowboarder, has decided to open a hotel meeting the expectations of snowboarders in the city of Lake Tahoe, a ski resort famous California, it has taken very seriously. On The Block may qualify as a renaissance post-modern high altitude! Woaow! All rooms include wireless telephones, stereo channels with CD, game consoles, accessories and snow handles to hang the “bikes” on the wall. Of course wifi everywhere, gift bags, popcorn to put in the microwave and “wax” for the boards. The rooms at The Block have galvanized steel furniture, spas for 2 persons, giant television screen with a home theater system, a sophisticated dryer specially adapted to the boots and gloves. The bar gives you unlimited access to “energy drinks” and “energy bars”.

Each room is totally different. Most are “sponsorisése” by famous brands snowboarding or skateboarding. The room Zoo York is more masculine while Roxy room, “one for the ladies’ room that reflects the universe of the mark. That of DVS is a veritable anthem to the eponymous brand of shoes and does not hesitate to offer table games to the former where you can play Pacman or Space Invader, games cults before internet. Other rooms remind the world of college style rooms with a student, but magazines and sophisticated one, for example, the delta 9, offers a real poker with ornaments look and a poker room of a casino (atmosphere and green carpet of pine ups poster on the wall).

This is the first luxury hotel of its kind. A crazy project that has, however, an obvious consistency. The Block The hotel was designed by Marc Frank Montoya, a snowboarder, coupled with Liko S. Smith, who has put on paper anything that would find in a hotel room luxury (but luxury does not mean necessarily expensive here). He designed and imagined rooms with all the comfort and all the fun that can appeal to these boys and girls who come to the mountains for fun in the snow, but then who want to share their emotions, have fun, listen to music and prepare for another big day of fun and broke. The addition of technology (CDs, DVDs, plasma, console games, Internet, etc. ..) extends the world of snowboarders who are here in their environment. Some floors are “proof beer!” Any one program!

The staff is a reflection of the hotel. Is that employees are worshipers of Snow melted snowboard enthusiasts and fans of extreme skiing. It goes without saying that they are pro in music, genre films and alternative culture. But we no mistake, under outside hyper cools, it is a hotel managed with rigour and whose benefits high-end meet a demanding clientele. The success is there and the founders plan to replicate the model in other ski resorts.
