• 10 Nov, 2009 • Catégorie: Culture •In partnership with Exclusif Voyages
With a unique look and an instinctive command, Yoshimitsu Nagasaka-san captures the suspension of time and Millennium spirituality of Koyasan sanctuary.
Mysterious mists or nostalgic temples schuffled by rain, Yoshimitsu Nagasaka-san reveals the intimacy and the esotericism of Koyasan.

Yoshimitsu Nagasaka-san was born in 1948 in the region of Koyasan. Alumni of Takeji Iwamiya-san, one of the great masters of Japanese photography, Yoshimitsu Nagasaka-san is graduate from the Art Institute of Osaka, where he still teaches photography. Fascinated by the history and culture of the sacred mountains of Japan, he has been devoting his art to the site of Koyasan for over twenty years. His work has been presented in many international galleries, it is on display for the first time in France.

South of Osaka in Japan, Koyasan is a mountain consisting of 9 hills in the shape of lotus. This sacred place, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, hosts an extraordinary complex of 120 Buddhist temples from the Shingon school. According to the legend, the first of these temples was founded in 800 by the Buddhist monk Kobo Daishi, also known under the name of Kukai. Since then, the old monastery has grown considerably and Koyasan has become a pilgrimage site in Japan.

In extension of the exhibition of photographs by Yoshimitsu Nagasaka, Exclusif Voyages suggests authentic experiences to Koyasan (night in a temple, private tours, meditation, meetings, trekking …).

These experiences around the sacred site of Koyasan can be combined with a personalized itinerary in Japan, including the discoveries of Tokyo, Kyoto, Izu, Naoshima …
