Facebook, Twitter… hotels take over the web!• 12 Feb, 2010 • Catégorie: Chloe, contemporary traveler •
If like me you’re addicted to Facebook and Twitter, you can’t ignore that these networks are now open to other “people” as our friends and next-door neighbors. These contemporary hotels are among the new adherents of the world community and they offer for their own the super cool plans to those who, like Jules and I, love to travel… even two blocks from home! I love watching the profiles of these well-connected hotels and their good online plans.
Rather Facebook or Twitter?
In its each own style! There are irreducibilities of the first time that has made Facebook their lifestyle, and the others, in search of new trends, who find in Twitter an exclusive network where it’s good to be. I especially love to go to the exhibitions in hotels, the art galleries make me bored: too stereotypical, too serious… In hotels, the exhibitions are related to encounters by chance with a person who dares to cross the threshold of the hotel. It’s much more fun and trendy! So I never miss an opportunity to connect on Facebook pages of the Hotel Bel Ami, the Cadran Hotel or the Group hotels Paris Rive Gauche. You can find there the latest events: concerts, cultural historical, and even the interviews of the artists! It’s like a mini-magazine. In addition, clicking on the link back on their blogs, I actually enter the world and the life of the hotel, it’s amazing! These networks are veritable mine of information where I find good advice.

Comment, suggestion? On Facebook, you are free to leave a comment on the hotel’s page (especially if you’re happy with your stay!). With Jules, we sometimes take a game, and thank our hosts. It’s like a “virtual book”. So if you need reassurance before your stay, visit the facebook pages of the Apostrophe, Lenox, Mon Hotel, the Ormelune, or even the Grand Hotel Francais or the Sezz. You will find on these pages the latest reviews of Internet users who are also the customers. As a bonus, the hoteliers respond them directly, no matter what comment it is. The advantage of Facebook? The proximity to the hotelier who takes time to respond you, and that, it’s priceless, it’s like a kind of mutual respect.
The best of chic
The best of chic in social network is to have both a Facebook profile and a Twitter account! There is the case of the 100% ecolo hotel Gavarni (Gavarni on Twitter and Gavarni on Facebook) and the hotels of the group Tiara (Tiara on Twitter and Tiara on Facebook). Twitter seems less alive than Facebook where you can send photos (there’re only links on Twitter), download applications and do quizzes etc… But Twitter can stay connected 24h/24 when you are through mobile. Between two appointments, I take the opportunity to take a quick glance at the Twitter profile of my preferred hotel. It’s that simple! In addition, I can twitter directly on my iPhone because the 140 characters are required to speak to a SMS around. In contrast, Facebook offers some many applications that it quickly becomes complicated to walk through mobile on the profiles of our friends. The most exclusive? Just have a Twitter account as the Hotel Particulier Montmartre. The Internet users are notified of news from the hotel little by little. They get the impression of being part of a private club, where good plans passed by word of mouth. Jules and I love it!

But the most fun is to find all packages of hotels online, with even sometimes, special offers reserved for members of Facebook! There is the case of many hotels, like the Jeu de Paume, Villa Roncuzzi or the Hotel du Cadran. Once again, people feel privileged and being ahead of other travelers, thanks to the fact that they are fans or friends with the hotels. In fact, some hoteliers do not hesitate to position their institutions as real people, creating their profile en Facebook, like Mr. And Mrs. XX. Jules has then become friend with the Hotel Le Morgane after our stay in Chamonix last winter. And I have discovered the hotel Les Aiglons, more feminine for my taste, belonging to the same group of Le Morgane, through his Facebook profile. So, we have decided with my lover, to stay in Les Aiglons for the Valentine’s Day! He knows how to please me…
I like very much Facebook, despite all the problems of privacy in this network. The reasons? I invite regularly my friends to join groups or become fans of my favorite hotels. I make them then discover my hearted loves and my favorites places. Then, free them to talk to the people around! The social networks are resolutely big communities!
