Hotel François 1er: a royal hotel
• 16 Nov, 2009 • Catégorie: One hotel a day, Paris, Romantic •Nestled behind the avenue George V, Hotel Francois 1er, 40 rooms, is a place where the royal decoration juggles the art of French living. The signature of the rooms is by Pierre-Yves Rochon, who delivers a boutique high, class, cozy and intoxicating hotel, as it feels to relive the Paris of the Belle Epoque.

Arriving rue Magellan, we are pleasantly surprised by the feminine facade of the hotel with large potted shrubs and a wrought iron suspended fixture, recalling the staging post from another time. Push the heavy iron door, you’re in an apartment with walls lined with wood paneling. The lobby is a real invitation to relaxation, with its deep seating and red velvet curtains.

We love the hotel bar with its plaid wallpaper. A sense doesn’t leave us: to be in the lair of Winston Churchill, imagining him smoking a fat cigar with a glass of whiskey in front of him. To access the rooms, the elevator provides entertainment: books bound as presented in a library. The rooms offer a cozy atmosphere worthy of a business firm or lawyers, with very special gilding and lighting. In tones of burgundy, black or golden flowers, the rooms perfectly fit your personality.

Rates: from 300€ the classic room (low season) to 850€ the junior suite.
