Hotel Les Aiglons Resort & Spa: eco-design hotel in Chamonix
• 18 Jan, 2010 • Catégorie: Green hotels, In the mountains, One hotel a day, Rhône Alpes •Making a hotel entirely green takes time, energy and money. That’s what Romain Trollet, general manager of Hotel Les Aiglons Resort & Spa in Chamonix is trying to accomplish every day. It is especially risky in an environment as tough as the mountains. A green hotel that also offers a contemporary decor thanks to the talent of Gilles Leborgne.

With its 107 rooms, Les Aiglons has a carbon footprint equal to zero. To achieve this, you need to pay attention to the insulation (triple glazing, balconies disassociated from the structure to avoid thermal bridges…), lighting (compact fluorescent bulbs) and water management. The outdoor pool overlooking the Mont-Blanc is fully heated to 27°C through a dry wood chip boiler.

After the renovation of the Hotel Morgane in 2007, also in Chamonix, Gilles Leborgne from Cabinet Ecart designed the interior of Les Aiglons. The colors, the shapes and the general pure atmosphere of the place give a serious blow to traditional hotels in the mountains. We love the Spa Deep Nature with a sauna and a steam room in the garden and also the chic tea room.

Rates: from 130€ per night in a double room.
