Hotel Mayet : design and cool in the center of Paris

• 29 May, 2008 • Catégorie: Paris

Situated in the heart of Paris, the hotel Mayet belongs to these nice places so rare here where we love going to. In 2001 Laurence Raymond became the new landlord of the hotel Mayet and renovated it. The aim ? To make it a design, cosy and warm hotel. Challenge conquered! A fun design, a caring and kind staff, nice rooms… Everything is here to make Hotel Mayet a must-seen in the French capitale. We met Laurence Raymond, the owner…

Hoosta : How did you start working in the hospitality industry ?
Laurence Raymond : “My family has been in the hospitality industry for three generations. I didn’t want to work in this industry so I went to a public relation school. The destiny made me meet my future husband who wanted to work in the hospitality industry. We bought a hotel in the Buci street in 1990 in Paris. We managed this hotel until March 2004 and then we sold it. In August 2001 we bought the hotel Mayet. We opened in Septembre 2002 after a few months of works.”

Hoosta : How would you define the hotel Mayet ?
Laurence : “I see it as a « nice and convivial » hotel. It is a small hotel but we want our clients to feel at home. I love the breakfast room with the big table and the buffet, it is very cosy. Customers appreciate this deal, in general.”

Hoosta : What is your philosophy ?
Laurence : “We don’t take ourselves too seriously but the customer’s satisfaction is a priority.
In these three star hotels the guests usually expect unavailable staff while here we really are at their disposal. That’s how I see things, we have always worked like this. It might be a habit we kept from our former hotel which demanded an upmarket service. We listen and take into account what our customers say and we accept the critics in order to improve ourselves. We know the best publicity for a hotel is word of mouth so we do care. When I’m on a trip I pay attention to the hotels I stay at to see the dos and don’ts. I try to pick up some nice ideas. For example the left-over pastries from the breakfast are at the guest’s disposal in the lobby.”

Hoosta : What are your projects, your ambitions, your desires for the hotel Mayet?
Laurence : “For the Mayet, there is no project for the moment. But we are opening a luxury hotel in Val d’Isère in December 2009.”

Hoosta : Why did you choose Hoosta ?
Laurence : “The web site is interesting and well done. But I also choose Hoosta by instinct; I am convinced the Internet is essential in a hotel sales compaign.”
