Hotel Splendido, Italy: a dream stop in the Portofino Bay

Standing on the top of the Portofino heights, in the gardens gathering palm trees, mimosas, pines and sun umbrellas, a timeless luxury hotel is attracting travellers from around the world. The Hotel Splendido, a well-earned name, has always been a golden refuge for stars (Ava Gardner, Humphrey Bogart were regular guests), a perfect destination for a honeymoon.

Dominating the whole Portofino Bay and its famous harbour where yachts of top celebrities blend with the coloured local ships, the Hotel Splendido has rooms and suites with feminine pastel tones. The classic has a bit of a Belle Epoque aspect; especially with black and white marble and trompe-l’oeil present everywhere. Very well imagined, the outdoor swimming pool contains heated sea water, the only in its kind in Portofino. And of course, from the swimming pool, you get an astonishing view on the whole bay.

This very modern hotel also has a spa, offering three types of care destined to children from 3 years old to teenagers. Commonly aimed to couples on a romantic quest, the Hotel Splendido is now leaning towards families. Cares from the spa are given under parents’ eyes. Well advised, children will discover that it is never too early to feel relaxed. Our favourite? The relaxing massage mixing camomile and lavender in order to feel all grown-up (50min – 115€).
