A charming bakery close to Montmartre

• 18 Jun, 2008 • Catégorie: Gourmet

When it comes to brunch or simply for lunch on weekends, I get to « le coquelicot des Abbesses ». This former bakery which is also a bistro and a pastry is exceptional. Whenever I come here, I discover new creations from the imagination of Thierry Racoillet. Among my favorites: the eight bread fruit, bread with chestnuts, and of course the roll with poppy, their specialty. The latter is composed of three petals and a heart of blue poppy. For the taste, I rediscover the flavors of yesteryear with cakes of my childhood: madeleines, financiers, macarons, cookies and also full of small individual cakes. The smell of warm bread and golden crescent embaument the room and prove that everything here is genuine.
This place reminds me of the amazing scenery of “le Fabuleux Destin d’Amelie Poulain”. Inside is a trove of gold ornaments in all genres, old paintings, objects time… And I am not alone to love this place because the bakery also provides the Market and the Arpege, two famous restaurants in Paris.
