Mama Shelter: the new hotel by Philippe Starck in Paris
• 12 Aug, 2008 • Catégorie: One hotel a day •Our national designer (and inevitable) Philippe Starck, offers a new opus to the Parisian hospitality business.
The name? Mama Shelter. The location? The 20th arrondissement of Paris, close to the Pere Lachaise cemetery in the heart of Saint Blaise.

Not really a neighborhood familiar with hotels and luxury travelers. And yet, it looks like a very good idea for an unlikely experience in Paris without sacrificing the quality of the rooms.

It will probably need a little imagination to the daring guest to appreciate the subtlety of the contrast between elegance and sensuality of tis hotel room at Mama Shelter (equipped with Imac!) And the authenticity of the district with its terraces with coffee is less than 2 euros and many gardens ignored by tourists.

The guest will also have a good dose of impertinence to assess the relationship between the cheeky chic atmosphere of the Mama Shelter and the atmosphere of the Flèche d’Or, a true temple of European pop-rock scene located just opposite of the hotel. 172 rooms at an affordable price (from 171€ to 261€) to be consumed without moderation from September 2008.
