Merry Christmas in Andorra
• 25 Dec, 2008 • Catégorie: Andorra, Let's talk about it, Unusual hotels •On this Christmas day, contemporary hospitality business offers adventurer travelers a strange gift with the opening of the Iglu-Hotel, the first and only igloo hotel in southern Europe. Here is a hotel made with ice and snow, located 2300 meters above sea level on the Grandvalira ski area in the Principality of Andorra. The property consists of a large igloo containing itself nine small igloos which represent the rooms connected by corridors of ice that overlook a large igloo, which acts like the lobby.

The rooms of the igloo Hotel are decorated by artists mostly from Canada. The beds are also in ice. Sleeping bags in animal skins, protected internally by disposable linens are provided to sleep comfortably, in an environment that can drop down to -50 C. For lovers or those sensitive to the cold, the hotel has provided double sleeping bags.

More than a hotel, the Iglu Hotel is an adventure and most people stay there one night. Welcomed with a glass of warm white wine, you can then take possession of your igloo-room and unpack the things you didn’t forget to bring: gloves, hat, hot shoes, flashlight and jersey bath. Indeed, the Iglu Hotel has an opened jacuzzi where you can take a bath head in the clouds. After the relaxation session, warmly dressed, you can try the tubbing, the last trendy sliding concept: on a float, you slide and enjoy the slopes at full speed. Thrills guaranteed! Be aware the hotel is open only until the Easter holidays.

Iglu-Hotel-26 places. Rates from 100€ to 300 € a night, all inclusive.
