Opening of the Mandarin Oriental in Paris: a new challenge for a French architecture

• 16 Sep, 2009 • Catégorie: Let's talk about it

The challenge launched by the famous Mandarin Oriental chain will not have ignored the undisputed talent of Sybille de Margerie! This young ,sparkling and innovative interior designer has recently won the invitation for tender for the future design of the Parisian palace: the Mandarin Oriental, which should open its doors in 2010. A victory for the maestro of the space that has made luxury hotels and casinos her credo.

The palace looks like the Rue Saint-Honore: luxurious and typically Parisian. But also looks like her inspired designer who will have to deal with a budget of over forty million dollars. But Sybille de Margerie has already anticipated. A hint of exoticism in a contemporary setting will enliven the 30’s trendy art deco building that may soon be full of chic restaurants and exceptional relaxation areas.

French, Sybille has always dreamed of architecture and major projects. In 1989, she creates her own company SM Design. Her first orders will be soon the construction of hotels! The list is long: the Crillon, the Pavillon Lenôtre, the Ambassador, the Winter Palace in Luxor will opt for the French touch. Accor entrusted her with its palaces (Grant, Old Cabaret, etc..), Marrakech and its luxury villas. So much so, after this victory, the young designer is still juggling between specific commands from the four corners of the planet.
