Reopening of the W hotel in Chicago: a touch of design for the icon of the Starwood group

• 23 Jul, 2009 • Catégorie: Let's talk about it

Last June 25th, the W Chicago hotel – City Center, first hotel of the Starwood group, has revealed its new face with a new refreshing look, a scouring design and the incorporation of high technology. An ambitious redo that’s radically changing the ways of hospitality of this iconic hotel that has become, since its opening in 2001, the crossroad of contemporary culture. Enlarging its market by offering a “life experience” to clients from all over the world, that is the challenge for the W brand.

The hotel is now betting on a totally vanguard and disproportional setting. High columns and a spiral of sofas, in the middle of a temple of lamps, surround the W living room. In a setting of neutral colours, blue LED lights on the ceiling form a celestial sky that will take your breath away. But the main event of this fun experience has to be the myriad of coloured liquids poured on the tables. A simple pressure applied and the place lights up in thousands of colours…

Design and convenient, the rooms where updated in a search for comfort and space. The modular furniture allows one to take over the space in a light-hearted and fun way, like shelves where a hidden cocktail bar reveals itself once pushed over. There is little doubt that by 2011, the group will not manage to export this innovative concept all over the world.
