Saffire Freycinet: encounter of the third kind in Tasmania

• 1 Sep, 2010 • Catégorie: One hotel a day, Out of the city, Tasmania, Unusual hotels, Waterfront

Does Tasmania mean nothing to you, apart from a dry and desert land and a devil cartoon? Review your decision and fill this gap by offering you a stay at Saffire Freycinet your next trip Down Under. Unusual, luxurious, dazzling, the Saffire Freycinet is lost in the wilderness. Compound of 20 exclusive and modern suites overlooking the Great Oyster Bay and the Hazards Mountains, it promises an unforgettable experience. Warning: an encounter of the third type is looming on the horizon …

The hotel has cost a whopping $32 million, designed over 4 years and built in 3 years. A mammoth project that uses some imagination, when what seems impossible takes shape. One begins to dream before its architecture, or should I say its fantastic frame. A totally craziness born in the head of the famous local architect Robert Nunn and his associates.

The result makes you travel the land of shadows, ready to meet Jude Law as a sexy but artificial robot, where the illusion becomes real when we are offered the vision of wild nature, which makes us aware of our place in the universe. It is also a contribution to make nice trips. Until this sincere challenge, you can enjoy the luxuries and services the hotel offers, such as a spa, restaurant, lounge bar with panoramic views, library, designer chairs by Charles and Ray Eames and Herman Miller.

At Palate Restaurant, discover the cuisine of Chef Hugh Whitehouse, accompanied by a good local beer. In all cases, the Saffire Freycinet even if very luxurious is not limited to a 5 star classification. Its purpose is to provide a unique experience for its guests, where the structure of the building evokes a connection with the ocean. Still very present, since the rooms are adorned with local color: the pink granite from the Hazards Mountains, the sapphire blue ocean and green bush.

The greatest point: Go to the hotel as a VIP with the helicopter, 35 minutes top. But be careful to the price, starting between 1573€ to 2,516€ per transfer. Otherwise, it will take you 2 hours and 30 min to reach the hotel from the airport.

Rates: From 984€ the Deluxe Suite to 1,770€ the Premium Suite.
