Scarlet Hotel: eco-friendly holidays
• 23 Nov, 2009 • Catégorie: Green hotels, One hotel a day, United Kingdom •For the holidays, give yourself a few days of zen attitude at the Scarlet Hotel in Mawgan Porth in Cornwall. This popular destination for surfers and pub lovers, is also an amazing natural site. Hung on a hillside, the Scarlet Hotel has been designed in accordance with the environment, between sea and vegetation. It is a true eco-friendly hotel. Opened last September, the hotel is an effective a ingenuity: the 37 rooms are grouped around curved corridors, the facade is organic and the roof green.

We love the multiple levels that allow the hotel to play tightrope above the sea. The air architecture was intended by Harrison Sutton and Bauwerk to live at the rhythm of nature, with the outside air as air conditioning. The Scarlet Hotel offers a biomass boiler (burning wood and cereals), collects rainwater and recycles the waste water.

For the interior design, Max Bentheim specialist in contemporary and luxury hotels in United Kingdom, has made clean areas punctuated with unique touches: incongruous shaped lights, pop print on pillows, warm colors. The bathrooms are lovely especially the bath decorated with a small mosaic tiles. But the best memory of the Scarlet will certainly be the spectacular view offered by the many terraces, including one that overlooks the hills bordered by the ocean. Magnificent.

Rates: from 178€ for the Just Right room, up to 262€ for the Spacious one.
