Select Hotel, Paris: Sorbonne, my love…
• 28 Oct, 2009 • Catégorie: One hotel a day, Paris, Romantic •How not to think of mythical couple Sartre-Beauvoir when staying at Place de la Sorbonne, not far from Saint-Germain-des-Pres? This is what the Select Hotel, 67 rooms, makes us remember. Nestled in the heart of this mythical place, this boutique hotel sets in a contemporary design decor yet ultra authentic thought Paul Sartre, not to be confused with Jean-Paul …

Combining modernity and classicism, the rooms sing love with solid wood beams in the ceiling and, for some stone walls. After a walk in the Luxembourg Garden and a stop in the beautiful neighborhood bookstores, return happily to your room. We especially love the bathroom at the entrance concealed behind a cupboard. A set of doors that open onto an amazing Italian shower.

With the art gallery look, the Select Hotel is disconcerting. The works selected by the owner of the hotel are exposed here and there around the fireplace. The reception provides some surprises, like the atrium where the cacti are built in layers covered with pebbles and where the sweet sound of a fountain is heard. The hotel bar, in an alcove, seems the logical place to enjoy the unique atmosphere of this charming Parisian hotel of a new kind.

Rates: from 169€ the standard room, 365€ the junior suite.
