Suite Martin Margiela: the decline in the rough

• 17 Nov, 2009 • Catégorie: Paris what’s hot ?

Until February 1st 2010, the Palais de Chaillot houses a specific exhibition: a suite decorated by Maison Martin Margiela on the theme of partying. With the idea to go beyond the simple concept of decoration, after living in space and in time, leaving passersby see the scars of time, the disorder caused by an evening where alcohol was not absent.

We begin the path by a long silver corridor (one of the color of choice for the Maison Martin Margiela). Then the 1st room: emptied of its furniture grouped in the center and covered with a cotton bag to protect them, the hall announced preparations for the party. Then comes the famous room where the action took place: the TV is still on, the bottles and some empty glasses are lying through the room. The hall is well exhibited, as it is left by the drunk and happy guests.

The visit is ended by a banquet hall particularly successful where conversation echo still resounds. Confetti littered the floor, the table is set, dishes, champagne buckets seem like frozen forever in time. A fantastic exhibition, frivolous but delicious. This is the 2nd consecutive year that ELLE Decoration joins the City of Architecture and Heritage to revive the former apartment of Jacques Carlu, the architect of the Palais de Chaillot in the 30’s. Christian Lacroix for the first one fot the 1st edition of the adventure …

Every Saturday and Sunday from 2pm to 5pm. Groups of 20 people. Check every hour visit. Single rate: 3€ (free for children under 18 years).
