The Vine, Madeira: benefits of wine therapy in an ultra-design setting

On Madeira Island off Portugal, the rafined luxury of a design and high-tech address combined with a spa specialist has opened in 2008, The Vine reflecting the spirit of Madeira wine: subtle, sweet and very likable.
Vinotherapy
As its name suggests, The Vine offers a complete spa: TheraVine, prestigious therapy born in South Africa and blends tasty grapes: Merlot, Chardonnay and Cabernet. Ingredients with an antioxidant principle are extracted from grape seeds or grape leaves and contribute to the anti-aging.
UVA Restaurant
At the UVA restaurant fusion cuisine puts local produce in the spotlight. Thanks to Thomas Faudry, under Antoine Westermann. This Alsatian triple star chef, from the Drouant restaurant in Paris, developed the UVA menu. The place overlooks the city of Funchal. An outdoor bar, the 360°, is also located on the top floor of the hotel.
Ricardo Bofill & Nini Andrade Silva
The Vine has been designed by Spanish architect Ricardo Bofill, master of post-modernism antique and Mediterranean touches. His work can be seen in Paris, Chicago, Tokyo and Barcelona, his birthplace. This cube rising from the heights of the capital is surprising by its modern and clean lines.
The interior of The Vine has been entrusted to Nini Andrade Silva, a Portuguese designer who has received numerous international awards and whose teams are working on all continents. Materials (fabric, glass, wood …) and colors (ash, plum) reflect the unique vision of the designer, a vision that she calls herself “Ninimaliste”. The play of light is also a reflection of the mood of The Vine, highlighting the quiet and elegant place. This hotel is also a member of the very selective consortium “Design Hotels”.
Among the 79 rooms, The Vine offers 22 suites ranging up to 85 sq meters. To a quality service id added an advanced technology: dual-line phones available, free wifi and 32-inch LCD screens in every rooms. Some have a view overlooking the harbor or downtown Funchal. On the roof of the hotel, a heated pool lets you relax and enjoy the panorama.
