• 19 Aug, 2008 • Catégorie: News & trends, One hotel a day •“Add three letters to Paris, you are in Paradise”
A new boutique design hotel is going to be part of the big Parisian hotels family: Apostrophe Hotel. I know what you are thinking “Oh no, another one, again!” But wait, this one is very different, promise!
Let’s start with the location: Montparnasse, not the usual neighborhood for design boutique hotel? That’s right, and that’s why the owners decided to set it up there.
The design now, Vincent Bastie took care of it. If you don’t know him, just remember that without him, Parisian hotels wouldn’t be like they are. He is a very talented architect who had his hands on over 50 hotels. So now you are thinking “Oh so this is just one more for him!” No. Vincent Bastie was very happy and flattered to be contacted to work on this project.

“Add three (two) letters to Paris, you are in Paradise”
He wasn’t the only one to work of the Apostrophe Hotel, Sandrine Alouf was there too.
Sandrine Alouf was captured by the Apostrophe hotel to tell stories, several magic stories, personal or universal, to make a single story, wildly original and welcoming.
Sandrine began to travel the world, small streets of Paris, soil and sidewalks, floors and various buildings. So Sandrine looked up to the sky, as if she does so well with the timeless cloud forms. So Sandrine found a thousand and one treasures, scraps of papers in the wind, dreamlike images of distant travel, torn posters in the subway or in workshops of artists, pieces of wood pulled out from the old walls and ceilings of the hotel before its renovation. Sandrine has shaped a creative journey throughout the 16 rooms of the hotel. Once upon a time there was a poem hotel …

Now you really really want to know what the Apostrophe Hotel is going to be? Read what Vincent Bastie has to say about it: “The basis of our thinking was the track man leaves by his intellectual work since the birth of the humankind conscience. We have therefore created a path through the floors visiting traces of writing. They are used to magnify much more the design elements.
Turning almost immaterial traces on walls or floors, even the ceiling. The travel diaries, after a detour by the Japanese calligraphy, music signs or contemporary urban tags gave us the opportunity to create a unique pathway in the Apostrophe hotel. Travelers who stop at the Apostrophe Hotel will be apostrophed by the messages conveyed by the rooms. The letters, the shapes and the drawings are essential here.”
